Midjourney --weird Parameter Explained

--weird (0–3000) pushes Midjourney toward unusual interpretations. It is not divergence (that is --chaos) and not aesthetic (that is --stylize) — it is strangeness.

When to use --weird

Three scenarios suit --weird: experimental art, concept exploration, and visuals that break conventional aesthetics. General commercial work usually does not benefit.

--weird"conventional vs. strange" slider

Notes

--weird is not a quality parameter

Higher --weird gives stranger results, not sharper. Quality comes from version and prompt.

Stacking with high --chaos kills usability

--weird 2000 + --chaos 100 produces near-unusable spreads.

Frequently asked questions

Is --weird compatible with Niji?

Yes. Niji 6 + --weird 500–1000 produces distinctive anime concept art.

Should commercial images use --weird?
